As part of the requirements analysis, the PROTECT.Ing workshop “Identifying and addressing special protection needs in initial reception facilities in Baden-Württemberg – requirements for a software solution” took place on 12.07.2024 at Heidelberg University Hospital.

Together with around 30 representatives from health care, social and legal counseling, violence protection, the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees as well as reception authorities and health departments from all four government districts in Baden-Württemberg, current processes and procedures for identifying, documenting and sharing protection needs in initial reception centers in Baden-Württemberg were gathered. In a World Café format, participants discussed in four multi-professional groups the requirements a digital tool for identifying and forwarding special protection needs of refugees should fulfill. From practical insights and discussions on aspects such as interoperability, data protection and data security, standardization, feasibility and user-friendliness, we gained important insights and impulses for technology development.
