European regulations and their implementation in Germany
Identifying special protection needs of refugees is relevant for healthcare, adequate accommodation and the asylum procedure. EU directives require structured processes for this, which have not yet been implemented across the board in Germany. Following the reform of the Common European Asylum System in 2024, new roles and responsibilities may emerge for public health services and health and social care providers when the legislation is transposed into national law.
In our publication in the Public Health Forum, we present the European regulations and provide insights into their implementation in Germany to date.
